The four individuals discovered dead in a house during a welfare check on Wednesday afternoon are being investigated as homicides by Santa Rosa police.
Just after 3 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check at the residence located in the Valley Vista mobile home development on the 200 block of Monarch Court. A concerned relative invited investigators to visit the residents.
According to the police, they forced their way in since they felt something was amiss. Inside, they discovered four dead people.
“We do know it was several days based on the information from the reporting party who had not heard from at least two of the individuals for several days,” said Sergeant Patricia Seffens.
Investigators are working to determine what happened, she added. She was unable to provide the four victims’ ages, names, and relationships at this time. All of the victims were adults, according to the police.
Last July, Geri Tapparo relocated to the senior mobile home neighborhood.
She remarked, “It’s just a shock,” “So quiet out here.”
Although it’s a very safe neighborhood, Tapparo said she has seen police arrive at her neighbor’s house before.
According to Tapparo, “they’ve been there a couple of times,” “Cause you can see right out of our kitchen window and not with lights going on or anything, but they just pulled up and went in to speak.”
Police told residents that there was no threat to them.
“I did ask one police officer that you know, ‘I understand this is bad, but are we in danger,'” replied Tapparo. “He goes, ‘No.'”
These kinds of crimes are very uncommon, according to Santa Rosa Police. The city saw just two homicides in 2024.
Authorities stated on Thursday that they thought the four individuals who were shot inside the house were all related.
