On Thursday, Santa Rosa police released more details about their homicide investigation into a shooting death that claimed the lives of four persons who were discovered by authorities doing a welfare check on Wednesday.
Just before noon on Thursday, the Santa Rosa Police Department released the update. According to authorities, just before 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, police received a call asking for a welfare check at a home in the Valley Vista mobile home development, which is situated on the 200 block of Monarch Ct. in Santa Rosa. After not hearing from his partner for a few days, the reporting party, who told police he was the boyfriend of one of the residents of the house, became concerned.
After arriving at the house, the officers broke through a window and entered the house. Upon entering, the cops discovered four individuals in various parts of the house, all of whom seemed to have had severe gunshot wounds. At the scene, all four were declared dead. According to the police, a semi-automatic handgun was also found next to one of the victims.
Although authorities have not yet disclosed the victims’ identities, they have revealed that the deceased were a 33-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man, a 67-year-old woman, and a 67-year-old man who “are believed to be family members.” Police stated that unless their identities are verified with the Sonoma County Corners Office, their names and precise relationships would not be made public. All four of the deceased were to have autopsies on Thursday and Friday.
Detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department Violent Crime Team are taking over the investigation, according to authorities, who confirmed that the incident is still being looked into as a multi-person homicide. After the South Bay residence was connected to one of the deceased, police said, a second search warrant was executed at a location in San Jose on the 2800 block of Buena Crest Ct., in addition to processing the scene at the Monarch Ct. residence.
When she found out about the crime, Geri Tapparo, a neighbor who came to the senior mobile home neighborhood last July, was taken aback.
She remarked, “It’s just a shock,” “So quiet out here.”
Although it’s a very safe neighborhood, Tapparo said she has seen police arrive at her neighbor’s house before.
According to Tapparo, “they’ve been there a couple of times,” “Cause you can see right out of our kitchen window and not with lights going on or anything, but they just pulled up and went in to speak.”
The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated, according to the police, but they still don’t think the public is in danger. Please call the SRPD Violent Crime Team at 707-543-3590 and mention SRPD case number 25-354 if you have any information about the case.
