A Pasadena man, Alex Daniel Guajardo, 27, was sentenced to two life sentences plus 10 years after admitting to the stabbing death of his pregnant wife, Caitlynne Rose Infinger Guajardo, and their unborn child.

This tragedy unfolded just hours after Guajardo had been released from jail on a prior charge of assaulting his wife. He was arrested only 17 hours after being let out on a personal recognizance bond.

The Harris County District Attorney, Kim Ogg, emphasized the tragedy as a clear warning about the dangers of domestic violence.

She highlighted Guajardo’s violent past, which included previous assaults and the killing of an animal.

On August 3, 2019, Caitlynne reported her husband to the police for punching her, which led to his arrest.

However, after his release, Guajardo returned to their home in Pasadena and committed the fatal stabbing.

Shortly after the murder, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Guajardo, who has remained in custody since then.

While incarcerated, he also faced additional charges for possessing makeshift knives.

Tuesday’s plea deal addressed both the murders and the weapons charges, leading to Guajardo’s life sentences and additional prison time.

The case was managed by Assistant District Attorney Mary McFaden and ADA Lindsey Bondurant, who worked to bring some closure to the grieving family.

Caitlynne’s family, particularly her mother, Melanie Infinger, expressed deep sorrow over the system’s failure that allowed her daughter’s death.

The concurrent life sentences given to Guajardo, though they won’t erase the loss, serve as some measure of justice for Caitlynne and her unborn child.
