Sonoma County victims of apparent drownings during atmospheric river storm identified

Authorities identified two persons who were discovered dead in apparent drownings in Sonoma County last month after an atmospheric river storm triggered extensive localized flooding on Monday.

The body of a man was found in the stream at Centurion Drive, just south of Guerneville Road, on November 23 by a community member who was strolling along the Piner stream Trail in Santa Rosa at approximately 8:40 a.m.

The guy was identified by Santa Rosa police on Monday as William Fowler, 64, of Santa Rosa. The cause of death was still unknown Monday, according to the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office. However, police stated that there was no suspicion of foul play and that his death did not seem to be connected to the storm.

In Guerneville, close to Mays Canyon Road and Highway 116, a man was discovered dead in a car that was submerged in floodwaters on November 23 as well. The guy was recognized by the Guerneville Sheriff’s Office on Monday as Jeffrey Fox, 82. There was no more information on Fox at the moment.

The region was under a flood warning at the time, and the Russian River, which passes through Guerneville, had risen above the predicted level that evening.
