The Golden State Warriors defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 139-105 on Thursday night, led by Stephen Curry, who scored 30 points and made all eight of his 3-point tries.
After the first quarter, Golden State had a 35-19 lead, and at the end of the third quarter, they had increased their halftime lead by 16 points to 25.
Curry went 6 of 6 from 3-point range and finished with 24 points at the half. Early in the fourth quarter, he made back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Warriors ahead by 30. A few minutes later, when both coaches cleared their benches, he departed the game.
Off the bench, Jonathan Kuminga scored 20 points.
Joel Embiid scored 28 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Sixers.
Embiid played through a left foot strain after missing Wednesday’s defeat to the Kings, and Curry played through a right thumb sprain with tape on his right hand.
76ers: Despite having their “Big Three” of Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and Embiid on the court, Philadelphia has lost two straight games after winning four in a row. The 76ers allowed Curry to get going and gave up several open attempts from beyond the arc, causing them to lose by a season-high number of points.
Warriors: With all three of its players healthy, Golden State defeated the 76ers in a crucial game that went from end to end. After losing 13 of 17, the Warriors displayed flashes of their quick and effective offense, which helped them get off to a 12-3 start.
With 4:49 remaining in the third quarter, Curry had scored 13 points, including two consecutive long 3-pointers, the second of which he banked in to give the Warriors an 89-68 lead. Curry then feigned disbelief by raising both arms to his head.
The Warriors hit 61% from the field overall and 56% (22 of 39) from three-point range.
On Saturday, the Warriors will host the Grizzlies, while the 76ers will travel to the Nets.
