The former White House chief strategist, Steve Bannon, recommended that Donald Trump run for a third term.
The assertion was made by War Room podcast host Bannon on Sunday night at the annual banquet of the New York Young Republican Club.
The top Trump supporter seemed to be referring to the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, which declares that no one may be elected president more than twice.
“The Constitution does not specify whether this applies only to consecutive terms,” Bannon said, referring to Republican attorney Mike Davis, who was apparently in line for the attorney general position.
According to Bannon, Donald John Trump will take the oath of office after raising his hand on the King James Bible. This will be his third triumph and second term in office.
Viceroy Mike Davis also advises me that, since it doesn’t say consecutive, perhaps we might do it again in 1928. Would you be interested in taking part in Trump 28?
The 22nd Amendment was approved by Congress in 1951 after Franklin D. Roosevelt served four terms as president from 1933 to 1945. Congress pushed for a two-term limit because of worries about the president abusing his position.
Trump would try to act totalitarian if he returns to the White House, Democrats have warned, including Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris concurred with the assertion that Trump is a fascist during the 2024 campaign, telling voters that he had promised to rule like a tyrant if reelected.
A person is only allowed to run for president twice under the Constitution. Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025, will mark the official start of his second term as president.
Only under specific circumstances is there an exception that permits someone to serve more than two terms.
If their first term was shorter than two years, a vice president who takes over as president by succession—for example, when the incumbent dies or resigns—may run for two further terms.
The president-elect stated in an April interview with Time magazine that he was against the repeal of the 22nd Amendment.
I’m not in support of a contest. Not for me. Trump stated, “I would not be in favor of it at all.” I plan to serve for four years and perform admirably.
But, during a speech at the National Rifle Association annual meeting in May, Trump had said, You know, FDR, 16 years almost 16 years he was four terms. I m unsure if we will be regarded as a three-term administration. or for two terms?
Trump joked to House Republicans on November 13 that he would not run again in 2028 unless they took action, according to The Hill.
During the first seven months of the Trump administration, Bannon served as the White House’s chief strategist. He was sentenced to four months in prison in 2022 after a judge found him guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress. In October, he was set free.
