John A. McNutt, 39, of Dover is the target of a five-count criminal complaint from the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor’s Office.
Among the felonies charged are aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and attempted murder.
The allegation in New Philadelphia Municipal Court states that McNutt attempted to steal something and injured the victim with a hammer.
The clerk was previously reported to have suffered head injuries by Dover Police. After receiving treatment, she was discharged from a nearby hospital.
After being detained at the Tuscarawas County Jail since early Tuesday, McNutt made his video appearance in court this morning for arraignment on the charges. A $500,000 bail was set.
Next Wednesday is the date of the matter’s preliminary hearing.
