A Florida grandfather was shot and killed by a neighbor on Thanksgiving Day after they got into a fight about loud music.

Hureleyon McLean died Thursday at the age of 72. The name of the shooter is still being kept secret while investigators continue their investigation, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

When the shooting started, it was at 3:30 p.m. Shots were reported to Broward County Regional Communications near Lauderdale Lakes, approximately 32 miles north of Miami, in the 2800 block of Somerset Drive.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel said that the shooter left a gun in his hand outside a room after shooting McLean in the head. McLean was found by deputies with a gunshot wound. At the scene, he was declared dead.

The gunman, who reportedly claimed self-defense and cooperated with investigators, was taken into custody by deputies. The Broward County State Attorney’s Office will hear investigators’ findings before deciding whether to bring criminal charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hureleyon’s wife, Rose McLean, discussed what transpired during a Thanksgiving Day celebration with a number of media sites.

She told WTVJ, a local NBC station, that the man said his music was too loud while it was playing. So he went down to my spouse.

After that, she claimed to have heard a gunshot.

She remarked, “I just flew to the door when I heard it.” My husband was lying face down in the blood when I looked out.

She said she found the gunman standing behind her spouse when she got downstairs.

She told local Fox affiliate WSVN that he was simply standing there staring at me while holding his gun. “Why did you shoot my husband?” I asked him as I walked up to him. Why? And he threatened to shoot me as well if I didn’t keep my mouth shut.

The man’s claim of self-defense was contested by Rose McLean.

She told WTVJ that her husband had no weapons. My husband was not even carrying a knife.
