The Coos County Sheriff’s Office reports that on December 11, authorities found a cache of weapons and mushrooms inside a Bandon, Oregon, residence after conducting a multi-agency investigation into a suspected illegal marijuana network.
While executing a search warrant at a home on Highway 101, the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team found the evidence.
According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, detectives found 49 firearms, including short-barreled rifles and shotguns, many of which may have been obtained illegally, numerous grenades, marijuana processing equipment, and more than two thousand mushrooms that may have contained psilocybin.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are working together on the investigation with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew Houglum, 50, of Oregon, and other alleged co-conspirators are being charged after the raid.
A US Coast Guard drone unit was part of the search team, along with Oregon State Police, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Bandon Police, Coquille Police, North Bend Police, Coquille Tribal Police, and Coos County Parole and Probation.
Authorities said the investigation is still under progress.
