Tragic Accident: Madison County Man Fatally Struck by Stolen Pickup Truck!

A tragic accident in Madison County claimed the life of a local man after his vehicle was struck by a stolen pickup truck on Sunday morning.

According to the New York State Police (NYSP), 31-year-old DeAngelo Polk from Munnsville lost his life after being hit by a truck driven by two teens in Camden.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. when Polk was driving northbound on State Route 46 in his Dodge Dakota.

At the same time, 19-year-old Evan Donda, speeding in a stolen red Dodge Ram, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Peterboro Road. Donda’s truck crashed into Polk’s vehicle, forcing it into a nearby house.

Polk was ejected from his vehicle due to the force of the collision, NYSP confirmed.

Emergency services quickly responded, and Polk was taken to Wynn Hospital in Utica. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, he died from his injuries.

After the crash, both Donda and a 16-year-old passenger fled the scene on foot but were later apprehended by state troopers.

Upon further investigation, the police discovered that the Dodge Ram driven by Donda had been stolen over the weekend from Camden.

Donda was also found to be driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.09%, which exceeds the legal limit.

Authorities charged Donda with several serious offenses, including Vehicular Manslaughter, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and additional traffic violations.
