A Modesto Teen’s Tragic Death has led to the sentencing of the man responsible for the fatal shooting that occurred after the teen made a wrong turn.

The tragic incident happened on December 26, 2020, when 14-year-old Maria Juarez mistakenly drove into a dead-end street in a neighborhood run by the Valley Boyz Crip street gang.

Juarez was accompanied by three other passengers: an 18-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old girl. As Juarez turned the car around, gunfire erupted.

Damon Morrison Jr., along with two others, fired over 20 rounds at the car, believing the occupants were members of a rival gang. In a desperate attempt to flee, Juarez crashed into a light pole.

The shooting resulted in the heartbreaking death of Juarez, who was struck twice by the bullets.

Although the 16-year-old boy and the 18-year-old woman were also injured, they survived. Thankfully, the 11-year-old girl was unharmed.

After a month-long investigation, Morrison Jr., along with Angelo Keo and a 16-year-old boy, were apprehended.

Morrison later admitted to the killing and has been sentenced to life in prison. Keo, on the other hand, faced reduced charges as part of a plea deal, and he will serve 17 years for his involvement in the crime.
