The Charlotte Fire Department reports that a fire at an apartment complex in east Charlotte early on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of two people.
CFD claims that an apartment on Spanish Quarter Circle caught fire as a consequence of unattended burning candles.
On Wednesday, firefighters were dispatched to the fire around 3:30 a.m. Firefighters found the two casualties inside the house after the fire was quickly put out, and they were taken to the hospital before passing away from their wounds.
Three cats were also killed in the fire, according to CFD.
The fire department reports that no additional apartments were harmed by the incident.
The identities of the victims are yet unknown.
