Two Social Security checks in November for these retirees – It’s now official

Social Security benefits for the month of October are well under way, so not it is time for many retirees to turn their eyes forward to November, especially now that fall is underway and the lead up to Christmas is starting to be felt.

With Halloween on our heels, Thanksgiving and Black Friday around the corner, and a long Christmas list to fulfill, retirees need to start planning their income distribution for the last three months of the year so that their funds don’t run out too soon, and the fist way of doing that is knowing when your payments are coming.

Social Security Calendar for the last Trimester of 2024

Even though October payments are almost fully distributed, it is worth reviewing the schedule just in case you missed a payment date and must contact the SSA.

Tuesday October 1st: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for all qualified individuals.

Thursday October 3rd: Retirement payment for retirees who claimed their Social Security payment before 1997, as well as Supplemental Security Disability Income (SSDI) payments for the same beneficiaries.

Wednesday October 9th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 1st and the 10th of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries.

Wednesday October 16th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 11th and the 20th of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries.

Wednesday October 23rd: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 21st and the 31st of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries.

In November the calendar will not be as straightforward as in October because of a few reasons.

Friday November 1st: SSI payments for all qualified individuals will happen this day, but because the 3rd of the month falls on a Sunday, this means that all those payments are rescheduled to the previous day when banks are open, which is Friday the 1st. This means that retirement payment for retirees who claimed their Social Security payment before 1997, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries will go out on this date.

Wednesday November 13th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 1st and the 10th of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries as usual.

Wednesday November 20th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 21st and the 31st of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries as usual.

Wednesday November 27th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 21st and the 31st of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries as usual

Friday November 29th: This extra payment should not be included, however, the SSI payment for December is scheduled for Sunday, December 1st, which means that it needs to be moved to the prior date banks are open, in this case Friday November 29th.

The extra November payment means that there should be one less payment in December, but it is truly not the case, so first and foremost, let’s look at the normal payments we can expect.

Tuesday December 3rd: Retirement payment for retirees who claimed their Social Security payment before 1997, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries.

Wednesday December 11th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 1st and the 10th of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries.

Wednesday December 18th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 11th and the 20th of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries.

Tuesday December 24th: Retirement payment for retirees born between the 21st and the 31st of every month, as well as SSDI payments for the same beneficiaries. It has been moved from Wednesday the 25th because of Christmas Day and advanced to Christmas Eve as the banks are open on this day.

Tuesday December 31st: While technically happening in December, this is the first SSI payment for January 2025. Because of New Year, the payment is sent out early on New Year’s Eve so that the banks are open. This payment will already be adjusted with the 2025 COLA.
