Two teenagers and an adult were charged with shooting each other in Hamlet.

Hamlet Charges have been brought against an adult and two teenagers for allegedly shooting at one another late last week.

Around 2:13 p.m. on Friday, November 22, two officers reported hearing gunshots close to the intersection of Rollins Avenue and Terry Street, according to Hamlet Police Department Maj. Hudson Chitwood.

Three people were seen running down the street shortly after, according to the authorities.

A young person is suspected of firing at a car that was carrying Anthony Harrington-Galbreath, 22, and another young person.

The first shooter was reportedly pursued down Terry Street by the two people in the car, who fired at him directly at the officers.

Police reportedly caught one of the criminals, but the other two managed to get away. But before police could reach, one of the two was captured and held at gunpoint by a local.

Chitwood told the reporter, “I was proud that a Hamlet citizen was willing and able to assist us in detaining an armed suspect.” It demonstrates great bravery.

They were all charged and taken to prison. Because of their age, police do not reveal the names of children.

Four firearms were reportedly seized by police during the investigation, one of which was reported stolen.

According to reports, two of the defendants are from Hamlet.

Chitwood claims that the suspects were taken into custody prior to the lockdown of the neighboring Fairview Heights Elementary School.

Harrington-Galbreath was charged with attempted first-degree murder, shooting a firearm within city limits, and going armed to the horror of the public. He was detained at the Richmond County Jail on a $150,000 secured bond until Monday afternoon, when he was released.

On Monday, the RO couldn’t find his charges on eCourts.

It seems that Harrington-Galbreath has never been convicted in North Carolina.

Until they are proven guilty in court, all defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent.
