Basketball fans are now one week closer to the redesigned NBA All-Star Game as the calendar has flipped from 2024 to 2025.
On December 19, 2024, the 2025 NBA All-Star Game voting began. I made an effort to forecast the game’s ten starters on that particular day.
After almost three weeks, we have a clearer picture of who supporters want to see start, and some new information may have altered the rankings of those who should be selected.
There has never been a better moment to evaluate the situation and offer a current look at the 2025 All-Star Game starters, as voting for the All-Star team continues until Monday, January 20.
Recall that the NBA player and media votes make up the remaining 50% of the vote, while the All-Star Game fan vote makes up 50%. The All-Stars for this exercise will be chosen based on the judgment of one writer.
With some modifications from the last iteration, here is a revised look at who should start in this year’s All-Star Game.
Western Conference All-Star starters updated prediction
-
G:
Stephen Curry, Warriors -
G:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder -
F:
Kevin Durant, Suns -
F:
LeBron James, Lakers -
F:
Nikola Jokic, Nuggets
What hasn t changed
Almost anything.
The frontcourt was still in place for the time being, but I gave starting Victor Wembanyama some serious thought.
Because Nikola Jokic is a lock, the tough part was determining whether he should pass LeBron James or Kevin Durant.
In the initial round of fan voting, Wembanyama came in fifth place, behind only Anthony Davis and the three players already named.
Although I can easily place Wembanyama higher than Davis, I’m still a week or so away from saying that the 21-year-old ought to be ranked higher than the greatest of all time.
Furthermore, I will acknowledge that my opinion of Durant and James as All-Star starters is influenced by both their record of achievement and their standing in the fan voting. At least for now.
What has changed
A superstar’s All-Star debut in front of their home crowd is one of the most thrilling traditions. In front of the Chase Center crowd, Stephen Curry starts since Luka Doncic recently sustained an injury.
Despite the Warriors’ difficulties, Curry is averaging 22.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game this season, making his nomination more than just a legacy or hometown choice. His feats transcend reason, and he remains a singular genius.
The team scored 38 points on 8 of 15 three-point attempts on Christmas. After eight days, it scored 30 points on an incredible 8-of-8 long-range effort.
Tonight, Chef Curry was cooking.

I think the MVP of the 2022 NBA All-Star Game would be inspired to put on another outstanding All-Star show in the Bay.
Luka Doncic, Victor Wembanyama, and Anthony Davis are all worthy mentions.
Eastern Conference All-Star starters updated prediction
-
G:
Damian Lillard, Bucks -
G:
Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers -
F:
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks -
F:
Jayson Tatum, Celtics -
F:
Karl-Anthony Towns, Knicks
What hasn t changed
In the East, not much has changed, much like in the Western Conference. And with good reason.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is still working hard enough to reclaim his title as the best player in the world, Jayson Tatum is quietly having a fantastic season with the reigning champions, Karl-Anthony Towns is settling in well in New York, and Donovan Mitchell is still the biggest star on the team with the best NBA record.
The Eastern Conference frontcourt seems to be decided one month prior to the All-Star Game. Although Evan Mobley has made significant progress and is likely to be selected as a reserve, he is still not as good as the starting three.
What has changed
Among other things, the recent return of fans led to a swift switch-up in the East backcourt.
Despite his ups and downs this season, Damian Lillard takes Trae Young’s place this time. That may easily return to how I had it by the time of the All-Star Game.
Young continues to lead the league in assists (12.0 per game), and the gap in the standings is slight. Despite his personal struggles, I’m thinking about the fan vote and Lillard’s contribution to Milwaukee’s season comeback.
