Virginia Beach, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Police say a 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday after breaking into an elementary school.
According to officials, two people entered Trantwood Elementary School early on Thursday morning via a ceiling hatch. A teacher addressed the accused in her classroom as they were tampering with artifacts throughout the campus. The North Great Neck Road is close by.
Authorities claim that immediately after being confronted, they were observed taking two items and fleeing the school.
Using the school’s video footage, officers were able to identify the car the suspects left in and track it down to Alexander Mausser’s house, where he was 19 years old.
Authorities later arrested Mausser and charged him with public urinating, assaulting a law enforcement officer, and burglary.

As the Virginia Beach Police Department and Office of Security and Emergency Management looked into a complaint of suspicious individuals inside the school, we would like to inform you that the school was delayed in opening this morning.
Until the matter was settled, buses were halted in the parking lot. Law police quickly gave us the all-clear, and students were permitted inside the building.
Classes are proceeding as usual. There may be more police patrols in the area today, which parents and students may notice.
