The victim of Monday’s boat capsize at Bodega Bay, one of several recent fatalities in the region this month, has been identified by Sonoma County authorities.

Around 1:45 p.m. on Monday, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a call regarding boaters in trouble close to Salmon Creek. Five individuals were on board when the Achelous overturned and ran aground at North Salmon Creek Beach. After surviving, four of the boaters were transported to a medical facility.

The Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that the deceased was Alonzo Ocaranza, 69, of Turlock. The incident’s other details were not revealed.

In recent weeks, two additional boats in the vicinity have capsized. Three adults and three teenagers were on board a crabbing boat when it capsized in Bodega Bay on November 2. Four persons were reported missing at the time, one person was found dead, and another was saved.

A second boat capsized off Bodega Head two days later. Crews attempted to save the life of one victim in that incident, but he did not survive.
