A 40-year-old man was tragically shot and killed in the Bronx, New York, on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Kavon Reid from Yonkers, was walking outside a senior home located at East 198th Street and Pond Place around 1:45 p.m. when the incident occurred.

According to police reports, Reid was shot in the back, and the bullet passed through his chest and heart.

Despite his injuries, Reid managed to run for one block before collapsing on Bainbridge Avenue.

Witnesses described the chaotic scene as they heard multiple gunshots, followed by Reid’s desperate plea for help.

One eyewitness recounted the moment Reid realized he had been shot. “He ran up to me and said, ‘Yo, I got shot,'” the witness explained.

“He was hit in the leg and chest and collapsed by the bus stop. I tried to help, but he was already having convulsions, so I immediately called the police.”

Emergency responders arrived swiftly and transported Reid to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting, is described as a man wearing a grey-hooded shirt and a face mask.

Police believe that Reid and the suspect had no interaction before the shooting but speculate that the suspect may have recognized him.

Video footage of the incident has been obtained, though the authorities have yet to determine a motive.
