Alabama’s BirminghamParts of central Alabama are under a winter weather advisory, and from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday, up to one inch of snow is predicted.

Autauga, Bibb, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Randolph, Sumter, and Tallapoosa are among the counties covered by the advice.

The following cities are anticipated to experience slick roadways throughout the advisory period: Selma, Prattville, Clanton, and Alexander City.

The snow could make traffic hazardous, particularly during Tuesday morning and evening commutes, according to Birmingham’s National Weather Service.

On roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, drivers are urged to reduce their speed and exercise caution.

Although accumulations are predicted to be less than an inch, the most severe consequences are anticipated at higher elevations.

Residents are advised to prepare for possible travel delays and to monitor local forecasts for updates.

Ice formation is more likely because temperatures will be close to freezing during the event.

Early Wednesday travelers should be on the lookout for slick patches, especially in rural and less-traveled areas.
