Grand Junction, COA A winter weather advisory is still in force for the Flat Tops region and portions of Colorado, including the Elkhead and Park Mountains, from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are predicted by the National Weather Service, while larger amounts may occur locally. Up to 35 mph gusts of wind might impair vision and make driving dangerous.

Columbine, Hahns Peak, Toponas, Buford, and Trappers Lake are all included in the advisory. Over the weekend, it is anticipated that roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, may turn slippery and hazardous.

It is recommended that drivers exercise caution, slow down, and give themselves more time to get there. For the latest recent information on traffic conditions, dial 511.

Late Friday is predicted to see the start of the snowfall, which will continue consistently through Saturday until reducing by early Sunday morning.

This occurrence is in line with the January winter storm pattern in the Colorado Rockies, where higher elevations may get more snow and more powerful winds.

Roads coated in snow and poor visibility are to be expected in the impacted areas. It is strongly advised to take winter preparedness steps, such as winterizing vehicles and stocking emergency supplies.

For more alerts and modifications to the advise, keep checking the National Weather Service.
