Prosecutors claim that a woman in New York City is imprisoned for allegedly starting a fierce fire that killed her ex-boyfriend and a female companion who attempted to save him inside a garage last month.

According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, on November 2, his ex-girlfriend, 43-year-old Aliya Fakhri, purposefully set a fire close to the garage’s entrance while Edward Jacobs, 35, a father of three who leaves behind twin boys, ages 11 and 9, was sleeping on the second floor of the two-story garage.

Janet, Jacob’s mother, told the New York Post that her son was still trying to reconcile with Fakhri after they split up over a year ago.

He was telling her, “Yo, I’m done with you,” just like any other individual who has been rejected. Leave me alone. “Said Janet.” She was unable to accept the rejection even though he had been urging her to leave him alone for a year. One year ago, they split up.

Jacobs was reportedly working on a construction project to turn the garage of a Queens house into an apartment when the fire started. According to the Post, Jacobs’ mother described his relationship with his buddy, 33-year-old Anastasia Ettienne, as platonic.

According to the prosecution, Fakhri arrived on November 2 at approximately 6:20 a.m. and declared, “You’re all going to die today,” from outside before setting the garage on fire.

Fakhri was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and arson after the New York Department of Buildings and FDNY fire marshals conducted an investigation. Prosecutors say she will next appear in court on December 9 after being arrested and remanded on November 27.

Fakhri may spend up to life behind bars if found guilty.

According to a statement from Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, this defendant intentionally killed two persons by starting a fire that ensnared a man and a woman in a blazing conflagration. Due to thermal injuries and smoke inhalation, the victims sadly passed away. As we pursue this case, we offer our deepest sympathies to the families of Anastasia Ettienne and Edward Jacobs.

According to Jacobs’ online obituary, he was a man who loved sincerely and lived fearlessly.

According to his funeral notice, he had a remarkable talent for lighting up whatever room he entered and was passionate about his vocation as a plumber. Sunday’s attempts to contact his family for comment failed.
