After being charged with putting her own child in risk, a mother from Illinois was shown grinning in her mugshot. Zariah Bradley, 28, was taken into custody by police in July on suspicion of reckless behavior and injuring her disabled 9-year-old son.

Police received a child endangerment allegation from DCFS on the evening of July 23, according to ABC station WTVO. The informant claims that Bradley mistreated her son, causing him to suffer from malnourishment and rotten teeth.

The youngster in question weighed barely thirty-five pounds, according to the informant. Medical documents later found by investigators revealed the child had not visited a doctor since December 2019.

When Bradley was arrested, she allegedly told police that she was waiting for an appointment with a dental professional and that she wanted more holistic therapies for her child. According to a doctor, the boy should have undergone an endocrine evaluation because he had never had one, even if he had the ailment.

According to documents obtained by Law&Crime, Hailynn Volpatti was arrested last week and charged with felony abandonment of a dependent resulting in death following the drowning of 21-month-old Nova Bryant.

According to reports, the assault happened on May 21 when the victim was in Volpatti’s custody. Her husband was reportedly employed at the time. Nova was taken to a neighboring hospital when first responders found she still had a pulse and managed to briefly revive her.

But it seems that the baby’s condition was so bad that he couldn’t fully recover and passed away on June 16.

Before heading out to fetch a drink, Volpatti first told the police that she had placed Nova in the bathtub with her two 4-year-old sons. Nova was floating on her back in the water, unconscious, when she went back to the bathroom.

The child always dips her face down in the bathwater and takes a big sip of water when being bathed, according to the mother, which is thought to have happened on that tragic day in May.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Nova was born prematurely at 32 weeks and had a number of health problems, including emesis, gastronomy tube dependence, global developmental delay, history of gastroschisis, history of prematurity, moderate malnutrition, intestinal motility disorder, oropharyngeal dysphagia, short stature, spinal asymmetry, and chronic feeding disorder.
