A woman from South Carolina was discovered dead in North Carolina after going missing for several weeks.

Ta Haley Payton, 22, was discovered dead on Monday, December 16, next to a park, according to WSOC-TV. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the body was found in a park close to Uptown Charlotte. The last time we saw her was on November 20.

According to Payton’s family, she celebrated her birthday by going to Charlotte with her boyfriend. He left without her the next day after they reportedly had an argument at the Microtel Inn & Suites in North Charlotte. Numerous local employees reported seeing her that evening.

An employee of the cookie shop, Emily Stewart, saw the event happen. Around 5 or 6 p.m. that night, she said, Payton entered the establishment to ask for help.

I don’t know; it’s just crazy. “It was odd that she came in more than once,” Stewart said. I gave her my phone since she just wanted to use it. She said she was ejected from the car by her boyfriend. He was discovered with another girl who was in need of transportation.

According to her, Payton called her mother and made two trips back to the company to use the phone.

As it happens, she used my phone to message her boyfriend. Stewart said, “I suppose she said, I’ll sleep outside tonight, and I’m sorry for everything.”

Payton was seen by workers at a neighboring Trader Joe’s and Arby’s, and her family and friends claim they never heard from her again after that evening.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, a homicide is being investigated, although the cause of death has not yet been determined.

The NC Beat revealed last month that Setoby Armstrong, 25, Payton’s boyfriend, was jailed for DUI and failing to stop at blue lights after he eluded police officers who tried to stop him.

To help pay for the funeral expenses and send the body home, one of Payton’s pals has launched a campaign called Ta Haley Payton: In Memory and Support.
