Coast Guard looking for missing man last spotted on a boat headed toward North Carolina

A man who was on a sailing vessel leaving Virginia and traveling to North Carolina is currently being sought by the Coast Guard.

The United States Coast Guard Mid-Atlantic said on Facebook that they are currently searching for 58-year-old Mark Carroll aboard the 42-foot sailing schooner Ceol Mor, which is overdue and has a blue haul.

On Thursday night, Carroll left the Norfolk/Hampton region of Virginia with plans to travel south to North Carolina. According to the Coast Guard, the ship last spoke on Friday night.

Local Coast Guard troops are searching the area’s shorelines, while a C130 crew from Air Station Elizabeth City is searching the area’s tracklines.
